Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment!  Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as, Indiegogo, and others.  The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal.  Please enjoy today’s featured project!

Ever since I was a child I always wanted to draw my own comic. As an adult I become a freelance illustrator and spray paint artist, and during my free time I decided to finally create my own comic…. and now I’ve done 4!

Making comics has become my focus these days.

I had been spray painting for around 15 years when I finally started creating the comic.

I used to paint one character per wall, on a plain background. Eventually I got bored of that and wanted to make each wall look like the cover of a comic. So that each wall told its own tale.

Issue 4 Covers ‘A’, Incredible Hulk Homage Variant and Uncle Ewan Variant.

The new walls were all set within one fictional apocalyptic setting, which became the ‘After the Robot Apocalypse’ World, and the idea was that there were things going on in the background and foreground leading the viewer to write their own story… but as I painted more and more walls and created more illustrations featuring the same world, that story and the characters started to take on a life of their own and their tales had to be told.

This wall was painted in Cheltenham (possibly in 2019)… and is still there.

Issue 1 introduced the universe the story is told within and some of the main characters, while Issue 2 expanded our cast of characters and explained more about the ‘ATRA’ World they live in. Issue 3 the War began and left us on a cliff hanger. But Issue 4 is out of this world… in my opinion.

This Kickstarter has been started to help fund Issue 4 of my Ten Issue Comic Series and allow me to turn down a few more freelance jobs to focus more on Issue 5 (which will come out in 2026). I’m currently aiming to create two issues next year and the more I can earn through the Kickstarter campaign, the more time and effort I can put in to the comic.

‘CF Lum’ is the Superstar colourist who has coloured Issue 2 to 4 to help speed up its creation. I coloured Issue 1 and you can see that CF is a much better at colours than me. ha.

‘James Notarianni’ has created videos for the Issues 2 to 4. He’s amazing and gets the videos perfect straight away.

I am so lucky to have got the amazing Superstar artists Ivan Tao, Simon Myers and now Uncle Ewan to create Variant covers, plus the 2nd Print of Issue 1 was coloured by the awesome Dan Kemp.

We are doing more and more Comic Cons around the UK each year, to promote the project. I love the Cons. You meet such lovely people.

My quest to get into the comic book world has been going well outside of ATRA as well. I’ve managed to create covers for Digital #4 and LoLz #1 and 2, as well as a two page spread in LoLz, and art pages for Technofreak, The77 and Chuffin’ Billy.

There is lots more to come though, and I have a few other fun projects in the pipeline too.

Thanks so much for getting involved in my passion project and for all your support.

I hope you enjoy Issue 4. It’s my favourite Issue so far.

As of August 19th, this project has raised $3,000 of their $4,066 goal. This project has 26 days left to raise the $4,066 or it will not be funded.
