In 2025, audiences were thrilled by an animated series that premiered on HBO Max called Scavengers Reign. The show quickly earned acclaim for its breathtaking world‑building and eerie, organic atmosphere, following the scattered survivors of a damaged deep‑space freighter as they navigate the strange, beautiful, and often perilous ecosystem of the alien planet Vesta. Celebrated for its imaginative creatures, philosophical tone, and striking visual design and cinematography, it stands out as one of the most original and immersive sci‑fi stories in recent animation.

That signature owes much to the vision of Jonathan Djob Nkondo, whose work as an animator, storyboard artist, director, and designer helped shape the show’s atmosphere and tone. Djob Nkondo’s clean and fluid linework, meditative pacing, and a fascination with the unspoken inner lives of characters are woven deeply into Scavenger’s Reign, and his graphic novels Peaceful Remission and Wandering carry the same DNA, offering readers an intimate look at the ideas and aesthetics that have made his animation work so compelling.

His style-defining work on Scavenger’s Reign has also contributed to League of Legends, Love Death & Robots, and several short works for FXX and MTV. Djob Nkondo has become one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary animation, seen in the “Moon Cave” sequence of the recently premiered “The Mountain, the Moon Cave, and the Sad God” animated short film/music video for the new Gorillaz album “The Mountain.”

This campaign showcases his intimate, dreamlike, and emotionally resonant graphic novels for a new audience in beautifully produced editions crafted with the care his work deserves.

Whether you discovered Jonathan Djob Nkondo’s work through his illustrations, his animation, or the haunting alien worlds of Scavenger’s Reign, this collection is your chance to own the definitive editions of his most personal works.
