On June 20, 2025, the OTUS project used a specially designed night vision drone to collect scientific data inside a powerful EF2 tornado near Fort Ransom, ND. This is the third flight of that day, and the first ever night vision drone intercept of a tornado. OTUS has an FAA-approved waiver to fly drones in tornadoes.
