Welcome to the Trainscapes segment! Each week here on Geek Alabama, Trainscapes will feature train content including videos of trains and behind the scenes action of trains and locomotives. Some people have an interest in seeing trains, and we here at Geek Alabama aim to please the train lovers!
The Twin Cities was greeted to a HUGE surprise along the railroad tracks these past few weeks. A very RARE former Southern Pacific unit founds it’s way to the area, and has held down LTB85. This is a local that runs from South Saint Paul to The Roseport Refinery. We’ll even see the refinery from a bomber!
We’ll start off at Union Pacific’s South Saint Paul Yard, and see LTB85 getting ready to depart with a rare SD60 leading. Following this, we’ll see see UP 1066 leading a number of LTB85s, and see it on a number of different trains. Mixed in will be SD60 leaders, solid sets of SD40Ns, and SD70Ms! Along the way, we’ll see this train in all weather conditions, and get views of the refinery from a WWII Bomber! LTB85 in itself is a cool train to get, and runs everyday of the week. Seeing this former SP unit leading the way made it all the better!
