Hi, friends! Thanks for checking out my Kickstarter. This campaign is intended to fund my new EP, “Secret Keeper.” I am asking for your help in bringing these seven songs to life. The funding I receive from this Kickstarter will go towards the costs of recording, mixing, mastering, and promotion. (Keep in mind that the Kickstarter has to be fully funded for me to receive ANY of the monies.)
Let’s dig into the EP! These songs are different from any of my prior releases. They’re about secrets, addictions, generational cycles, dreams, and how all of those affect relationships.
The title “Secret Keeper” is from one of the tracks. Keri Wooster and I wrote Secret Keeper, both pulling from our personal experiences, realizing as adults that we no longer had to keep childhood secrets, shifting from secret keepers to truth tellers.
As I began to compile songs for the project, I realized there were seven that had a similar theme: what goes on in relationships behind closed doors and the feeling that we need to hide the not-so-pleasant parts. We all have secrets, and some of them weigh us down. I felt it was important to bring to light the things we’re sometimes afraid to say out loud, so all of the songs have a bit of lyrical darkness.
This Kickstarter is an opportunity for you to join me in being courageous truth tellers!
While I’m an Americana artist, these songs are of a definite country flavor, which is different from my previous EPs. I recorded Secret Keeper under the direction of producer Nicole Witt at Sun Drop Sound Studio in Florence, Alabama, with some of the best musicians in the music industry. Hopefully, you’ll tap your foot to the beat, feel chills up your arms, sing along, and maybe even shed a tear or two.
