Introducing: A Book About What to Do With Grief. When You Can’t See the Light: A Trauma-Informed Guide to Surviving a Significant Loss.
From the book’s author, Ashley Nicole Jones:
After the death of my daughter, and even more so when starting my nonprofit to help others heal in grief, I read as many grief books as I could get my hands on. Most books told me how I might feel or what people might say, but no one told me what to do about it, which left me disappointed and longing for more. How do I deal with those feelings? What do I say to people’s unhelpful comments? How do I heal?
From the foreword, Dr. Jerome D. Lubbe:
“When You Can’t See the Light is more than a guide to surviving loss; it’s the compassionate, trauma-informed resource we’ve all needed but could never quite find. Ashley’s work is grounded in both lived wisdom and actionable steps, offering a roadmap for those navigating the complex, often unresolved spaces of grief. It meets readers exactly where they are, providing the tools necessary to move through their pain at their own pace.”
ABOUT THE BOOK
Loss is universal to being human, yet grief is so uniquely personal. When grieving, society tells us to look for silver linings. But sometimes, in grief, the cloud covers the sun completely, and darkness is all around.
When You Can’t See the Light offers a tangible guide to navigating the complexity of grief and loss. Author Ashley Jones provides readers with accessible tools to holistically engage with grief, both physically and emotionally — teaching us how to listen to and care for our bodies as we move through loss or support others facing loss. The book illustrates many options, frameworks, and resources to help readers explore how to embrace healing in a way that meets their unique needs, all with a trauma-informed approach.
Ashley teaches us that grief, though painful, is something we can learn to sit with, process, and embrace in our lives in a way that promotes healing. Further, she shows that the healing journey is about arriving at a place where we can be present and still able to experience the fullness of life, despite our loss.
No matter how dark life seems, no matter how lost you feel, she reminds readers that the light is there. And as your eyes adjust, you will begin to see the faintest hope emerging from even the most unexpected places.
As of October 29th, this project has raised $11,500 of their $25,000 goal. This project has 22 days left to raise the $25,000 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $15, you will get a PDF book excerpt. For a pledge of $65, you will get one book.
