Hey guys! My name is Hieu, but you probably know me better as Kelogsloops. I’m a mixed-media artist based in Melbourne, Australia, and love blending abstract and surreal-art styles with anime influences to create my portraiture.
If you’re anything like me, you were that one kid in school who was always scribbling away in books and getting told off by the teachers for not paying attention. I was a big dreamer and let my imagination run wild enough to consider a career in the arts. And look where it got me… right here!
I’m super excited to be working with 3dtotal to create my first autobiographical art book, The Art of Kelogsloops: From Sketch to Finish. Inside the book, you’ll learn all about my creative journey, from the first face I ever drew (spoiler alert: it was Sailor Moon) to experimenting with watercolours, to exhibiting in art galleries around the world. There are plenty of galleries for you to flip through, including my beloved watercolour sketchbooks, and I will walk you through my entire art process using multiple in-depth tutorials.
As a child of immigrant parents, I also talk about the struggles of breaking the career mould to chase your dreams. When I learned about inspiring artists who turned their own dreams into careers, it paved the way for me to do the same. It would mean the world to me to be able to do that for someone else. Someone much like my younger self.
