Throughout history and in every community, women have driven social change, led movements, and been at the forefront of community activism, yet they are barely represented in our public spaces. In New York City, only 1.9% percent of monuments and parks are named after women.

Our project aims to correct that imbalance by inserting monuments to women in existing green spaces. These monuments will use the existing park infrastructure and add a layer of information and history to each site. We will link these monuments to an app that provides the histories of these amazing community women.

All Along is our proposal for creating a more inclusive system of representation for everyone. By tapping into NYC’s existing and extensive public green infrastructure, All Along will transform unnamed public spaces into monuments honoring the women who have shaped our communities.

We’ve spent the last year working with neighborhood organizers, archivists, community boards, designers, landscape architects, developers, and elected representatives to think of a way to change that. We have put in countless hours of work and have reached a point where we need some support to get this project off the ground. With your help, we can bring our project one step closer to reality!

As of April 19th, this project has raised $18,000 of their $50,000 goal. This project has 37 days left to raise the $50,000 or it will not be funded.
