Defenders of Alodia is a sci-fi fantasy action-adventure epic animated series produced by Boldbird Studios. The series is a take on action cartoons and shonen anime, with comedy, an emotionally gripping storyline, and a spunky, flawed, but loveable protagonist.

Defenders of Alodia initially started off as a series of short stories written by Naya Fae that was never generally released to the public, though after dwelling on the ideas a bit more, she decided to bring them to the series art director Lyle Speck, and together they set out to turn the stories into a webcomic series. About halfway through the production of the comic, the two ultimately decided to make the story into an animated series, so they could not only expand on it more but also introduce the world to an action series led by a young Black girl: something that unfortunately still isn’t all that commonly explored in television animation.

Eventually, they worked to bring together a team of incredibly talented individuals and were soon approached by Boldbird Studios owned by Hallie Jane Stephenson to fully produce and develop the series.

A teenage girl named Rebecca Winstead is transported to the sci-fi western fantasy world Alodia, filled with crooks, techno-wizards, aliens, and sorcerers. Imbued with enhanced Archaic Energy, she travels the west with wanted mercenary Zaid and a defective robot in search of a way home. It won’t prove easy, though, as the vicious Barian, a scholar of the vile Vexacious, ruler of Alodia, is out to get her and unlock the secrets of her abilities.

On their journey across the west, they come across hidden societies, ruthless bandits, and ancient cosmic deities: embarking on a destiny that will change the future of Alodia, and the universe itself.
