Crowdsourcing Mornings: Re:Mix — The Kitchen Mixer Good For People & The Planet

Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment!  Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and others.  The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal.  Please enjoy today’s featured project!

And we are the creators of re:Mix, passionate about building a future that is good for people and the planet.

Since we met 4 years ago, we wanted to challenge the status-quo in the home electronics industry, tackling issues such as e-waste, emissions and poor working conditions. We wanted to create a truly sustainable alternative, starting with a product that most people use in their daily lives. This is how our first product, a kitchen mixer, came to life. Now we need you to make it a reality!

re:Mix uses the jars that usually come with jam, sauces or fruits. You likely already have too many of them at home! You’ll find them in all sorts of shapes and sizes, perfect for any occasion.

There’s no need to waste your time cleaning multiple containers. The blades are easy to remove and clean. This saves you time, and avoids food waste!

The entire outer casing is made out of 100% recycled plastics from the Le Pavé® in France, saving emissions and valuable resources. Old plastics are shredded into tiny bits and melted, then pressed into large, sturdy sheets. We then cut them to size for the outer casing. This process results in materials that are truly unique: every material is slightly different from the other.

Yes! re:Mix is yours to repair, forever. It is made to be opened, repaired, and for its parts to be replaced. We’re also supporting you through guided video instructions at every step, so you won’t need a new blender every 2 years anymore.

A 1000W motor makes sure you can blend, mix and grind anything you can imagine. And yes, that includes crushing frozen fruits, making nut butters, and blending evening margaritas.

As of May 27th, this project has raised $30,000 of their $10,755 goal. This project has 20 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $32, you will get one recycled keychain.  For a pledge of $268, you will get one re:Mix mixer.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:
