Brains can be real a**holes. But as millions of people have learned from Dr. Faith G. Harper’s 2017 instant bestseller, Unf*ck Your Brain, when our brains freak out at seemingly nothing, sabotage the good in our life, ruminate on the bad, flip out at people we love, and other such foolery, they really are just trying to protect us.

Our job is to make friends with our brains again so that we can feel okay most of the time and not let our anxiety, depression, anger, grief, addiction, and stress run the show anymore.

This giant workbook is here to help, full of therapist-created and -approved exercises for getting your brain back on track.

Five years ago, when we ran the Kickstarter project for Unf*ck Your Brain, we thought it would be fun to throw together a quick workbook zine as a stretch goal. It turns out that you all thought that was a good idea too, and that hasty little zine, cobbled together from worksheets Faith had come up with for her therapy clients, has gone on to outsell most full-on books that we’ve published. We always meant to go back and flesh it out and now the time has come!

The Unf*ck Your Brain Workbook 2nd edition is massive. It’s 8 by 10 inches—a good size to photocopy if you want to share an exercise with a friend or print out a year’s worth of weekly mood trackers. The pages will be perforated so you can tear them out to stick on your fridge or tuck into your backpack. And at a planned 224 pages (it’s still in layout so we aren’t 100% sure about page count yet but that’s the goal), it’s got a lot to offer anyone no matter what sort of trauma, stress, or brain f*ckery you’re dealing with right now.

Inside you’ll find:

  • Exercises drawing on a ton of different disciplines, including CBT, DBT, ACT, PTM, and somatic therapies
  • Redesigned worksheets from the original zine, some worksheets from other Unf*ck workbooks, and a lot of new and original exercises and activities you haven’t seen before
  • Worksheets to help you get to know your brain and put your history in perspective
  • Sections devoted to general coping and unf*cking skills as well as others specifically focused on issues around trauma, stress, depression, anxiety, addiction, anger, and grief
  • Many exercises contain tips for therapists and other clinicians and bad-ass wellness professionals using these worksheets in their practice

You can use this workbook alongside reading the original book Unf*ck Your Brain, but you can also just use it on its own, without any familiarity with the original—we are making sure it stands alone so you don’t have to go broke to get better.
