Crowdsourcing Mornings: Take That, Fear! You Can’t Keep Up With Me!

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at:  https://geekalabama.com/media-kit-pr/geek-alabama-crowdsourcing-guidelines

This project is to fund the publishing of a beautiful children’s book called ‘Take That, Fear!’ which helps children learn how to overcome anxiety. We will be printing hardcover and paperback copies of the book which is 32 pages, 8.5 x 11 inches.

A few years ago, after reading Judi Holler’s best selling book, “Fear is My Homeboy,” I fell in love with the concept of making fear my friend. Shortly after reading the book, I had a golden opportunity to share it with my son, Ethan, who had been paralyzed with anxiety at a local bike park. We took the concept of being a ‘Fear Boss’ and broke it down into parts, literally taking one hill at a time, listening to what “Fear” was telling him and asking “Courage” to step in!

Within no time at all, Ethan was flying down the hills that had previously made him freeze with fear.

Watching my son overcome his anxiety was such an exhilarating experience that I was inspired to write a poem and asked him to help craft it.

We hope this book will encourage other parents to help their anxious children learn to become friends with their fear!

As of November 11th, this project has raised $2,900 of their $3,600 goal. This project has 19 days left to raise the $3,600 or it will not be funded.  For a pledge of $10, you will get one digital book.  For a pledge of $16, you will get one paperback book.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/takethatfear/take-that-fear-you-cant-keep-up-with-me?
