Crowdsourcing Mornings: Rosie The Reindeer: Rosie Finds Her Shine

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Some of you know but in case you do not, my long-time career was in the arts! Not drawing or painting, but dancing and choreography. Through owning a large performing arts studio I was given the opportunity to script and choreograph multiple times a year on many different topics!

My most favorite time of the year is Christmas! The costumes are more twinkly and the music is a lot more jolly. I love scripting and collaborating with talented individuals to produce original holiday shows that are equally loved by children and adults.

One Christmas, when I was helping my parents decorate their Christmas tree, I bent down to see a box of “favorites” that my mom held near and dear to her heart. I pulled the first ornament out, the highly cherished Radio City Rockettes ornament. As soon as I picked it up my mom bellowed, “Do not drop…” Sure enough, I dropped it and one of the legs fell off the tiny Rockette.

That story could go on and on. Luckily, my husband repaired the ornament for my mom, and through that a new Christmas tradition was born… The tale of the broken Rockette. My mother told this story year after year.

Her repetition of the story and her love for the Rockettes really inspired me to write a story about a reindeer who wanted to become a Radio City Rockette.

My mother always wanted to see some of my scripts turned into children’s books. In October of 2020, she passed after a long and hard battle with cancer. Incase you needed further confirmation, 2020 was the worst year ever.

My mom always claimed that the show “Rosie the Rhinestone Reindeer” was dedicated to my guilt of breaking her favorite Christmas ornament. While the guilt part may be a stretch, she had one thing right, she did spark an idea that has blossomed from stage show to now, children’s book.

Rosie the Reindeer is taking form in hardback, paperback, and e-book with the help of friends, families, and followers! By supporting this project you will kickstart my newest adventure.

Books are FUN!!!!! Christmas Books are BONUS FUN. I am obsessed with the feel of pages, the vibrant cover art, and the smell when I thumb through a classic Christmas read. I love using them for more than the words on the page; don’t try and tell me that you don’t decorate or make your kids hold them as photo props around the holidays!

No, but seriously, Rosie is a story about a sweet little reindeer who happens to be the kid sister to the most famous reindeer of all. Rosie is expected to follow in her brother’s footsteps and learn to guide Santa’s sleigh. But Rosie dreams of a life on the stage dancing with the North Pole Prancettes!

Rosie gains the support of her parents as she expresses her heart’s desire and the need for them to be behind her so she can achieve her goals.

Rosie, like many younger siblings, struggles with self-doubt as she compares her talents and gifts to those of her older brothers. She lacks the shine and luster of someone’s special nose.

Through much perseverance Rosie overcomes the expectations of others and chases her dreams; in the process, Rosie discovers she may have a little more shine to her than she ever expected.

Rosie is the cutest little reindeer that is sure to dance her way into your hearts this Holiday season!

As of July 30th, this project has raised $10,700 of their $5,000 goal. This project has 11 days left to raise as much as it can.
