View These Four Tips To Prevent Distracted Driving

As cell phone and car technology advance each year, many facets of travel are being made easier for drivers everywhere. However, these innovations are also making it much easier to be distracted on the road. This is especially true for teenage drivers, who are the most likely to be in fatal car crashes due to distracted driving.

Here are some tips on how to avoid the most common distractions while in the driver’s seat.

  1. Keep music at a lower volume.

Generally, loud music one of life’s most common distractions, and it can make processing other sounds more difficult. When your car’s speakers are too loud, it cancels out car horns, emergency vehicles, and other surroundings that drivers should be aware of at all times.

  1. Take advantage of safe driving apps.

There are several apps and features on today’s smartphones that minimize distractions. This way, you can continue using important travel features, such as navigation and music, while avoiding disturbing calls and texts.

  1. Designate a passenger to carry your phone

Looking at your phone, no matter how briefly, will greatly increase the likelihood of car accidents. If you don’t trust yourself to avoid using your phone while driving, give it to another passenger who can give directions and answer texts while you focus on the road.

  1. Keep your phone out of reach

Sometimes, the temptation to glance at your cell phone can be too strong when you’re driving alone. To avoid slipping up, place your phone in the back seat, the glove compartment, or any other place that is difficult to reach from the driver’s seat.

Taking these precautions saves lives, so it’s important to do whatever you can to stay completely focused on the road at all times. For more information about laws and statistics on distracted driving, check out the following detailed guide by Dolman Law.
