Crowdsourcing Mornings: Georgie Dupree: A Children’s Picture Book Series

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at: https://geekalabama.com/media-kit-pr/geek-alabama-crowdsourcing-guidelines

Growing up, I didn’t see many characters that looked like me as main characters in books. Georgie is a bubbly and ever-so-spunky character that I wish I knew when I was younger. Now more than ever, it is important to expose children to different cultures and we’re excited to invite the Dupree family into your homes with this series as Georgie learns lessons of resilience, courage, and positivity…with a dash of her sweet, Southern sass.

The Georgie Dupree series is an empowering set of books for children ages 4-8 years old, which features a spunky Black elementary student, a loving Black family that reminds you of your own, and classmates of all backgrounds and abilities!

Our books feature BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) main characters and are a perfect choice for parents, teachers, and gift givers who value representation in education.

We live in a diverse, multicultural world and yet only 12% of children’s books feature Black main characters. Importantly, less than 50% of children’s books written about Black main characters were written BY Black authors. Let’s increase these diversity statistics together with our series!

As of February 19th, this project has raised $15,000 of their $25,563 goal. This project has 13 days left to raise the $25,563 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $15, you will get one PDF book.  For a pledge of $30, you will get one signed hardcover book.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/soaringkitebooks/georgie-dupree-a-childrens-picture-book-series?
