The Greater Good: Could You Do More?

Sometimes we can be a little guilty of just sailing through life. Sure you may Mona about what is going on in the world of politics, you may disagree with things, but do you do anything about it? Possibly not. However, many of us would like to do more, perhaps for the greater good, and often small acts and changes in habit can help us on our way to doing that. So i wanted to share with you some of the things that you could do that could impact the greater good.

Think long and hard about your vote

Politics can be a tricky one to discuss, and everyone will have their own opinion about it. But the one thing you can’t do is moan about a result, a law being passed or even an election, if you never placed your vote yourself. This is when it is important to think long and hard about where your vote might go, and researching out things like voting records for local senators, such as Mike Crapo. Knowing how they vote for certain bills, could help you make the right choice for the future in terms of politics. If it doesn’t go your way, then you have every right to complain about it.

Be energy efficient in your home and lifestyle

Energy efficiency is a real hot topic of conversation right now, and while you may be worried about what certain things are doing to the world’s ecosystem, are you doing what you can yourself? Starting at home and making wise choices about the amount of energy you use, or even investing in alternative methods like solar, means that you are doing your bit for the environment. Even your carbon footprint could do with some work, and using public transport or car sharing the commute is a small but valid difference you could be making.

Donate to charity in different ways

It isn’t always about monetary donations to charity, although they are very welcomed, but sometimes it is about the other ways you can contribute. Donating old clothes and toys, things you no longer want or need, and even donating your time to help a cause or raise money yourself by taking on different challenges.

Help out in the community

Maybe you have a great community, but are you involved in it? Do you help out at your local homeless spot? Do you organize or actively get involved in events? If not, why not? Get involved and help within your community. It has to start somewhere.

Be involved in your child’s education

Finally, much like your community may want involvement, perhaps your child’s school does to? Could you help out and raise money for them? Play an active role or volunteer when they need an extra set of hands? These are all things to think about when it comes to doing the greater good.

I hope that this has given you some inspiration for some of the the small acts that you can do for the greater good.
