Here is something to think about for Halloween night. Did you know the Ebola crisis could increase the cost for chocolate? It’s already happening, because stock market traders are buying up more stocks in cocoa, which in turns increases the price for chocolate. The concern, people infected with Ebola could go into areas where cocoa is grown and processed in Africa, and this in turn could make people sick. Right now, Ebola is not in the areas where cocoa is grown, but that could change!
So, since people say eating too much chocolate is bad for you, and the kid’s buckets will be filled with numerous chocolate candies on Halloween night, this post will give alternatives to chocolate candy you can give out on Halloween night. Just make sure what you are giving out is something the kids will like, or you might find our house rolled with toilet paper, or egged, you don’t want that to happen!
Temporary Tattoos or Stickers
Kids will love wearing temporary tattoos or stickers, especially if they are Halloween related!
Mini Packs of Cookies or Pretzels
Mini pretzels and cookies are a healthy and easy alternative to the Halloween candy, the kids will love them!
Kids will be walking in the dark, so having a glow stick would help drivers see the kids walking.
Raisins or Dried Fruit
Dried fruit and/or raisins would be a sweet treat for the young ones, and a healthy one too!
Toothbrush and Floss
Yep, kids will eat plenty of sweets, and they will need a way to clean their teeth after eating that candy!
Why not? Kids love bubbles, and they would enjoy blowing bubbles while they are trick-or-treating!
Kids love to draw and color, crayons would be something kids can enjoy when they get home from trick-and-treating!
Certificates for Treats
Whether it’s a coupon for a free treat at a small business, or something else! Get a coupon now, redeem it later!
Kids are out for a long time Halloween night, they will need something to drink! Bottled water is a great way to stay hydrated!
Popcorn Balls or Rice Krispies Treats
Popcorn balls and Rice Krispies Treats are crunchy, and healthy treats, that kids should enjoy!
Just to be sure, I would have a couple of plain old chocolate bars for the older kids who thinks trick-or-treating is still hip and cool. And whatever you do, don’t give kids things homemade, it will just be thrown out by the parents! Have a great Halloween night!
