Bobby’s World is remembered as one of the most innocent cartoons of the ’90s — but there was a lot more going on beneath the surface than most of us realized.
In this video, we’re going back to the strange true story behind Bobby’s World, from the bizarre way Howie Mandel created Bobby’s famous voice, to the surprising horror movie references hidden throughout the show, the real-life inspirations behind the Generic family, and the episode that hit kids harder than anyone expected.
One episode in particular took Bobby somewhere Saturday morning cartoons rarely went — forcing a four-year-old character to confront death, loss, and the realization that someone he cared about wasn’t coming back.
We’ll also look at how Bobby’s World became one of the longest-running shows of the original Fox Kids era, why it eventually disappeared without much fanfare, and why the series feels so different when you watch it again as an adult.
