OUTLAW’S APPRENTICE: BROKEN BLADE is the first graphic novel in the Outlaw’s Apprentice series, a new swashbuckling fantasy comic, which chronicles the adventures of Otis, a teenaged artist-in-training, as he learns how to fight and survive under the tutelage of Erska, the former mercenary to whom he was apprenticed before injustice forces them both on the run.
I’m so excited to get to share Outlaw’s Apprentice with fantasy and comics readers alike. It’s inspired in no small part by the history, culture, and geography of my own region (the Southeastern US, and more specifically greater Appalachia), and thrown in a pot with swashbucklers, chambara, westerns, kung fu movies, and, my favorite, the “helpful stranger comes to a town imperiled” stories of beloved episodic adventures like Wanted: Dead or Alive, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Usagi Yojimbo, and Leverage.
As of July 7th, this project has raised $25,000 of their $2,500 goal. This project has 24 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $10, you will get one digital book.
