Ratten down the hatches and set sail for adventure!!
PiRATs! (Emphasis on the ‘Rat’) is a slapstick, heartfelt, comedic indie animated series all about pirate rats and their never-ending quest for cheese, pizza, calzones, you name it. If it’s cheesy and dripping with grease, it’s treasure.
Created by Matt Acuña (Disney Junior’s Ariel, Bob’s Burgers), PiRATs is about learning that you don’t need to look or act a certain way to be a part of a community. You are you, and that’s enough. And yeah, we’re gonna tell that emotional story with sewer rats.
If you’re looking for an adventurous nautical comedy full of heart, look no further! Think Spongebob Squarepants meets Treasure Planet.

Deep below New York City lies the Seven Sewers, a sprawling ocean where rodents and reptiles alike sail in ships. They’ll engage in naval battles over scraps of food, as rats, mice, and reptiles fight to see who will reign as the supreme ruler of the sewers.
Our 11 minute pilot animatic follows Izzy T. Rat, a spunky 15 year-old girl who is half-mouse and half-rat. And today is her first day aboard the crew of The Stinking Bishop, a legendary piRAT ship helmed by Izzy’s childhood hero, Grease Gorgonzola! Together they’ll sail to the ends of the Sewers searching for the mythical Lost City of Cheese, said to have enough cheese to end hunger as we know it across the Sewers. While Izzy intends to use that cheese for good, Grease is… well, let’s just say his intentions aren’t as pure…
Along their voyage, they’ll be antagonized by the Royal Reptilian Navy, a group of reptiles aiming to control the food supply in order to rule the Seven Sewers. Led by the pompous Shelliot von Turtleton, they’ll be hot on the piRATs tails! And it’s said they’re working with the scourge of the sewers… the dreaded devil snake herself, Sassparilla, aka the Rat Eater!!
As of April 21st, this project has raised $13,000 of their $10,500 goal. This project has 33 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $10, you will get a download of the pilot.
