Welcome to the Foodie Saturdays segment! Each week here on Geek Alabama, Foodie Saturdays will feature food related content. We here at Geek Alabama will make foodies out there very happy when we feature a video or post all about food, eating food, or making food.

What’s it like to spend 24 hours at the Winter Olympics? And how’s the food?

I traveled to Milan, then took a 4.5 hour van ride into the beautiful mountains of Livigno in the Italian Alps for the Games.

In this video I’ll show you what it’s like to spend a full day at the Winter Olympics in Livigno, starting with morning wakeup, breakfast, and a quick room tour. We also got an exclusive behind the scenes tour to the top of the big air ski jump for the view. I’ll show you all the food I ate for lunch at the Olympic Hospitality.

Another highlight was getting to chat with Pat Burgener, a professional snowboarder and musician at the Olympics – and it was cool to hear his response to “what an Olympic athlete eats?”

Finally, you can’t come to Italy without trying some of the local traditional Italian food, and I was excited to try Pizzoccheri, Tzigoiner, and Salmì di cervo. An amazing meal!

It was an incredible day at the Winter Olympics 2026!
