I have loved MTG since I was a teenager. I took a short break while I was in the service, but once I got back home a good friend introduced me to EDH and I was instantly hooked. Diving back in deeper than ever, it wasn’t long before theory crafting turned into joining multiple pods.
However as life does its thing to all of us, college wrapped up and my career started stealing more and more of my time. Just as I started managing my time differently to make more time my hobby, another twist of fate happened when I stumble upon an amazing person who became my wife. While she deserves all of my time and then some, she enjoys my nerdiness……. sometimes.
So I was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Do I keep playing my old decks that I have spent dozens of hours reworking/balancing/perfecting and my monthly pod has seen numerous times and knows their tricks, or do I come up with something new and fun to play with? Because we all know the time it takes to build and balance a deck. From research, putting cards in a cart, researching more, removing cards from a cart, researching even more, putting some of the prior cards back in the cart with new cards, etc… you get the point.
It’s fun, but this steals time that you could be playing instead of building.
I wanted to take every tool we already use for our favorite format…
