From Santa Cruz to Lacovia, families walk for miles through mud and mountains just to check on loved ones. Roofs are gone, power lines down, and entire towns cut off from the outside world. Yet amid the destruction, there’s resilience, the spirit that defines Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa.
Where Hurricane Melissa hit hardest, the towns of Black River and New Hope in Jamaica, the destruction is total.
Homes leveled. A hospital in ruins. Families living beneath half-collapsed roofs. Across the island, people are surviving on whatever the land and sea still offer.
