Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment!  Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as, Indiegogo, and others.  The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal.  Please enjoy today’s featured project!

If you know me, you know how much I love Christmas. There’s something about the season — the blanket of snow covering the trees, the flicker of candlelight, the quiet anticipation of hope ahead — that resonates deeply with me, both personally and musically.

I am currently hard at work on the material for a new Irish harp album. My last album, “Hall-Gate House” (2022), was the capstone of my Fulbright year, with half of it recorded as part of my final project for my Master’s Degree in Traditional Music Performance from Maynooth University. The time has come for a follow up project, and I am excited to be creating an album of music for the holidays and winter months. The focus of the album’s songs are traditional Irish songs including “Don Oíche Úd i mBeithil” and “The Wexford Carol” as well as a few sets of tunes and a collection of carols from the British Isles.

As a professional harpist, I have released two full-length solo albums, “Amhrán an Cruite” (2018) and “Hall-Gate House” (2022). The decision to create a holiday record came after several years of multiple people requesting an album for the Christmas season. I believe creating this record is the next significant step in my career as a professional harpist, and I am excited to collaborate with musicians from both the Irish and American folk music traditions as part of the project!

Joining the record are a stunning array of collaborators:

Dáithí Sproule – internationally acclaimed Irish guitarist

Norah Rendell – celebrated Irish wooden flute player

Stephanie Claussen – award-winning Scottish and classical harpist

Tabitha Agnew – bluegrass banjo player from Co. Armagh

David Benedict – fantastic bluegrass mandolinist

Smack Young Walser – old-time fiddler

As of May 20th, this project has raised $4,600 of their $5,500 goal. This project has 10 days left to raise the $5,500 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $25, you will get one album digital download.  For a pledge of $35, you will get one signed album.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hannahflowersharp/the-harp-and-the-holly-celtic-christmas-album?
