It’s the early 2010s, and new cartoons with expressive storytelling are premiering left and right on some of the biggest networks in the world. Some emotional, others episodic, but these shows’ sheer impact on our little minds stuck with us long-term.

It’s now the 2020s. Those cartoons that you’ve grown up with and immersed yourself within are either ending, or have been over for almost a decade. You notice that your once Saturday morning cartoon binge has turned into a crummy 9 to 5. The magic you once saw on the television screen that had once brought you so much joy has now faded … and all you see is content that isn’t for you.

With adult animation on the rise and children consuming that adult content, the desire for safe spaces for children is all the more pressing. We, BlipToons, aspire to create spaces not just for children, but to inspire them to create for themselves.

A sandbox cartoon with a storyline that is easy to follow for children of all ages, loveable characters, catchy songs, and storylines that will inspire is ready to take its next big step, and we’ll need your help!

With the animation industry taking a greater interest in preschooler-targeted shows and adult-animated shows, it seems that children and preteens lack an outlet for their imagination. Cartoons like Steven Universe, Wander Over Yonder, and Adventure Time, to name a few, are unique in the way that they immerse and interest their audience, both young and preteen to teenager.

We must continue to create safe spaces for children looking to enjoy and immerse themselves into content that can not only set a good example for them, but also serve as a creative outlet to let them enjoy themselves.

Zipped Up is a 2D-animated series about two teenagers, Alejandra (a whitty, anxious know-it-all) and Nelly (a jockish high school football player), and their beyond-average adventures across the multiverse with just the unzip of a zipper. They are accompanied by two multiversally experienced pals, Levi (a happy-go-lucky cowboy), and Gadget (a snooty robot).

——

Alejandra and Nelly, once content with their “normal” lives, in their some-what “normal” universe, found themselves in a loop when a magical zipper found itself in Alejandra’s hands. Being a lover of trinkets and collecting items, Alejandra kept the zipper for good luck … but little did she know, obtaining one would be the last time she’d ever see her “normal” world ever again.

With Nelly getting roped into her shenanigans, the two found themselves accidentally unzipping a magical portal into the multiverse!

Waking up in what they thought was the end, they found themselves missing home more than ever. With Alejandra worrying for her mother (a lonesome single parent), and Nelly worried about what his parents would think of his incompetence …. how in the world would they get back now!?

After meeting Levi (a sherrif from a western-cyber universe) and Gadget (his trusty steed), two rogues willing to help these two adventurous kids find their way back home, they devoted their lives to protecting them.

Now zipping portals to endless possibilities, will they ever make it home?

——

Inspired by early 2010s Cartoon Network cartoons, Zipped Up is a musically driven animated series for children of all ages, specifically children ages 10 and up!

Zipped Up takes place in the multiverse, which serves as a sandbox for imagination. Anything is possible, and it is up to our protagonists to work together to overcome it. The series values staying true to yourself and breaking the status quo.

The Zipped Up animated short follows a 27-minute long adventure full of witty humor, goofy characters, and jazz hands! To bring this incredible cast, and these characters to life, we’ll need your help!

As of May 19th, this project has raised $75,000 of their $90,000 goal. This project has 12 days left to raise the $90,000 or it will not be funded. For a pledge of $8, you will get one e-art book.  For a pledge of $15, you will get one hardcover artbook.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bliptoons/zipped-up-the-animated-pilot?
