Republicans here in Alabama always freak out over the LGBTQ community. And here we have had two recent freak outs. You see, the right wingers are in this all-out culture war. This is all they have, they have no good policies. All they have got is culture war insane stuff.
And now they are going after people who do things when they are not on the clock at their jobs. A former teacher at an Auburn middle school who performs as a drag queen during his private time and not during the school day had to resign his job because of the right wing culture war.
It’s getting to the point now that anyone LGBTQ or anyone supporting the LGBTQ community will no longer be able to work at any school in Alabama. This former teacher also has a podcast, and I guess having a podcast means you’re no longer welcome at any school either. It’s just despicable that someone’s private life is being called out on sites like 1819 News and Libs Of TikTok.
But this is not the only story. Another LGBTQ person was going to do a story time at a private business in Mobile. But apparently the right wingers found out about this, and they started to send threats to this business. Because of the threats, this event had to be cancelled.
Also, an author of a children’s book which talks about LGBTQ topics, is also getting threats as well. They tried to move a book signing to a local bookstore, and of course the right wingers found out about it and sent threats to that bookstore. And now the book signing has been cancelled as well.
It’s just getting crazy and outrageous here in Alabama for anyone who is a part of the LGBTQ community. So, I have to ask this. If the Republicans and right wingers are sending threats to anyone who is LGBTQ or supports the LGBTQ community. Why aren’t they calling out all the problems at churches involving children?
There have been numerous stories all around the country where you see someone working at a church being criminally charged with abusing a child. There have been way more stories coming from churches than from LGBTQ people.
But the right wingers won’t talk about that. They ignore any church story, and only focus on the LGBTQ people. I’d say this, if I had any kids. I would be more comfortable sending my kids to a drag queen story hour rather than a church.
This is what 1819 News, Yellowhammer News, and all these right wing media outlets do. They make people angry with culture war crap. It needs to stop.
