The Wrong Planet – How autistic individuals experience the world. A children’s book.

For parents, grandparents, and family of autistic children.

For teachers, caretakers and librarians who work with them.

“The Wrong Planet” is a deeply personal children’s book that mirrors my own experiences as an autistic individual. For years, I lived in ignorance, not understanding why I felt so different. It wasn’t until I was diagnosed as autistic, along with my two children, that things started to make sense.

Through the story of an alien who lands on the wrong planet, I’ve tried to capture what it often feels like to be autistic in our society – the sense of being out of place, the struggles to fit in and be understood.

But more than that, “The Wrong Planet” is a story of hope, acceptance, and understanding. By offering a playful and sympathetic glimpse into the autistic experience, I hope to make these insights accessible to both children and adults, whether they’re on the spectrum or not. My goal is to provide a starting point for understanding and celebrating the diversity of the autistic experience – recognizing that each person’s journey is unique.

Whether you’re a parent reading with your child, a teacher sharing with your students, or an autistic individual seeking connection, I hope “The Wrong Planet” resonates with you and fosters greater acceptance and appreciation for the unique ways we all experience the world.

I’ve already invested in printing these really high quality books, and they are sitting in my storehouse right now. So there’s zero chance I can’t produce the books.  This Kickstarter campaign exists to spread the books as far as possible around the world, as I believe in the transformational power of a great stories.

As of June 17th, this project has raised $2,000 of their $1,071 goal. This project has 10 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $7, you will get one eBook.  For a pledge of $20, you will get one signed hardcover book.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/holgernilspohl/the-wrong-planet-a-childrens-book-on-autism?
