Nadine is a live action short film set towards the end of the Hollywood Studio System in 1956. It is a story about the resilience of the human spirit as our main character experiences the darker sides of success, fame and life inside the cage of a studio contract. Our short script is a pitch for a much larger story, delving into many scandals and injustices of the period.

Our story is not based on any one studio era actress but it stands as a tribute to the great talent that these women were able to gift the world while facing injustices few of us can ever really understand.

Nadine has been a money maker for the studio since the age of 13. Now, she sits at 30 years old, lonely and miserable with a just barely concealed pill dependency. On what will end up being her last day on set, she overhears news that shatters her world: the studio is letting her go.

Unbeknownst to the studio producer Franklin and film’s director Rodrigo, the Nadine that is shepherded onto set for her big dance number is a ticking time bomb.

Empowered and outraged by this new information, she finally confronts the oppressive studio producer who has harassed her for so long and pushes her way out the studio door to freedom.
