Hi, I’m Jennifer. My mission as a children’s book author is to create stories that encourage change and promote diverse characters who acquire strength, courage, and a sense of individuality through their adventures. My hope is that this special story resonates with children all over the world who have felt like they didn’t quite fit in. This book has an extremely important message for children who may have, or will experience bullying at school. It also sheds an important light on the benefits of the need for parents having open and transparent conversations with their kids, and being a true sounding board for them while providing emotional support during those pivotal moments.
We need more children’s books that celebrate differences! My inspiration for the character of Jane came from my own experiences with bullying, coupled by other’s who I’ve mentored, spoken to, and observed over the years. Jane is a great representation of a normal little girl who is made to feel different in her own skin due to her quiet and humble persona, and outward appearance. As her anxiety builds, she struggles to feel comfortable going to school.
