Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment! Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and others. The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal. Please enjoy today’s featured project!

Colossal Cat in the Box is an oversized version of the breakout quantum trick-taking game Cat in the Box. We’ve upsized everything at least 4x their original size (except the cards, which have 40% larger numbers and are higher quality with a white edge on the backs), and added/replaced items for a massively improved gameplay experience. There are bigger player boards, a larger customizable central research board, bigger rules and scorepad, giant translucent plastic heavyweight double-sided player tokens, and even a huge start player token! All of this in a standard 12 x 12 x 3 (Ticket to Ride-sized) box, complete with cat-shaped GameTrayz™ trays for your player tokens and a GameTrayz™ tray for organizing all of the components in the box.
And for all of you Cat in the Box afficianado’s out there, we also have Colossal Cat in the Box cat plushies!
If that wasn’t enough, we’re including two brand new expansions: String Theory and The Doppler Effect, which change up the game in subtle yet intriguing ways.
You don’t need the original Cat in the Box to enjoy Colossal Cat in the Box: everything you need is included!
Colossal Cat in the Box is based on the famous Schrödinger’s cat theory, where a cat is placed into a box with a dangerous substance in it. While the box is closed, you don’t know if the cat is still alive or if has succumbed to the subtance. According to quantum theory, the cat is both alive and dead until you open the box and view it, at which time it is one or the other.
Colossal Cat in the Box takes a slightly less morbid look at this theory, and instead of being alive or dead, you don’t know the color of the cat cards until they are played, so the cards are essentially all available colors until you play them!

As of September 6th, this project has raised $152,000 of their $5,000 goal. This project has 21 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $59, you will get one game. For a pledge of $79, you will get one game and plushie. To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tedalspach/colossal-cat-in-the-box?
