Welcome to Aloha Everything, a magical story that will take you on a thrilling journey through the breathtaking islands of Hawaiʻi!

In this exciting adventure, you’ll encounter mighty canoes crashing over ocean waves, royal hawks soaring high above the clouds, and brilliant lizard creatures jumping nimbly through forest trees! Most importantly, you’ll meet a courageous young girl named Ano who learns, grows, and comes to love her island home with all her heart.

Since the day that Ano was born, her heart has been connected to her home. But, this adventurous child has a lot to learn! When Ano begins to dance hula — a storytelling dance form which carries the knowledge, history, and folklore of the Hawaiian people — Ano comes to understand the true meaning of aloha.

Aloha Everything is both a captivating read and a fantastic educational resource for learning about Hawaiian history, ecology, and culture. With breathtaking hand-painted illustrations and a beautiful rhyming scheme that will lull little ones into brilliant dreams of vibrant adventure, this book is sure to capture the hearts of both children and parents alike.

Did you know that less than 0.05% of children’s books are about Pacific Islander characters?

Reading books that feature characters from diverse backgrounds is not only important for representation, but it also helps children develop empathy, respect, and an appreciation for different cultures. By introducing young readers to the rich history and culture of Hawaiʻi through the eyes of Ano, Aloha Everything provides an opportunity for some children to see themselves in a book for the first time and an opportunity for other children to broaden their perspectives and deepen their understanding of cultures outside their own.

What else makes Aloha Everything so special?

  • Each and every illustration in Aloha Everything is lovingly and masterfully hand-painted. There are those who believe that children’s books don’t need high-quality art, but we believe in using art to ignite and inspire children’s life-long love for reading.
  • In a world where women and girls are still under-represented in children’s literature, Aloha Everything centers around Ano, an empowered, adventurous protagonist that will inspire young girls to know that they can achieve anything.
  • Aloha Everything has been created with the input and approval of educators. It was designed to naturally fit into various curriculums. Aloha Everything also features interactive and educational components, such as eye-spy pages, to develop and advance young minds.
  • Aloha Everything is a multilingual book, sometimes called a “language-mixing” book, which means that it’s written in English but features 25 Hawaiian words (with definitions provided). Despite the advantage of multilingual books to children’s development, they are extremely uncommon in children’s literature.
  • Aloha Everything wouldn’t be what it is without the support of the people and organizations of Hawaiian communities. That’s why Aloha Everything partners with Hawaiʻi-based non-profits to provide services, donations, and proceeds to benefit local communities.
  • Aloha Everything supports independent publishing and emerging female, AAPI artists.
