Strega Sporca, a new comics publishing imprint by Katie Skelly, is proud to announce the upcoming release of its debut title: Viscere #1: Body Horror, a comics anthology that explores the world of body horror through transgressive genre stories. Featuring the work of eight emerging artists, the anthology delves into topics ranging from plastic surgery gone wrong to doppelgängers run amuck, ultimately asking readers to have a good think about the flesh they call home.

The anthology showcases the ruthless talents of Tia Roxae, Coco Paluck, Natalia Hernandez, Chloe Brailsford, Jenna Cha, Rin Ascher, Alejandra Gutiérrez, and Corinne Halbert. Each artist brings a unique perspective and style to the stories they tell, with inspirations ranging from underground comics, manga, giallo, Eurosleaze, and more. These artists have created an incredible collection of stories that explore the complex relationship between the body and the self, and with your help we can bring them to the world.

In addition to the comics, Viscere #1 will feature an essay on body horror in the work of Junko Mizuno by Rachel Miller, PhD, with cover art by Kate Lacour and book design by Coco Shinomiya.

Viscere #1 aims to publish by October 2023 and is the first in a series of anthologies planned by Strega Sporca over the next two years. The next installment, Viscere #2, will explore the world of folk horror, while Viscere #3 will delve into the realm of science fiction horror.

As of May 30th, this project has raised $9,300 of their $5,500 goal. This project has 4 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $20, you will get one print copy.
