There are a large number of professions in FFXIV and it is not always easy to understand how one job differs from another and which one to start your journey with. It’s worth starting with the fact that you don’t need to worry too much about the profession: if you took something that you didn’t like in the end, then it’s not scary – you can take another one.
The game has standard roles: tanks, healers, and DPS. But their gameplay may differ from other games of this genre. Instead of the usual bare numbers on skills, FFXIV uses the base skill damage (Potency), which will depend on the buffs, debuffs, mob, characteristics of your character, and many other circumstances. This is a rather complicated and unusual approach for many players, which confuses not only beginners but also professionals in the gaming industry. That is why so many players order ff14 boost from special companies. This service helps to save time on leveling up, complete difficult missions and, in general, figure out how to play and develop your character correctly.

General Features
The game has a general cooldown of all skills (GCD – global cooldowns), due to which many players feel that the game is slow (~2.5 sec, may differ depending on the profession). But also in FFXIV, there are skills outside the general cooldown (OGCD – off global cooldowns), which are added to the rotation, making the game more dynamic.
Each work has a Gauge, an individual indicator that opens up additional possibilities.
There is a common mechanic for the whole party – Limit Break. Limit Break (LB) fills in the top left corner of the screen and has 3 charges. Using LB, the tank will give complete invulnerability to the whole team for a couple of seconds, the healer can resurrect all the dead, and the DPS bring additional damage to the target.
Tank Class Overview
Tanks in FFXIV generate Enmity. In order to attract the attention of mobs, you need to turn on Stance. Without a stance you will not be a tank, mobs will beat everyone around. Tank is not the easiest class in ff14, that is why players often turn to the official forum to ask some questions about the game.
To check if all the mobs are on you and if your healer is taking damage, there is an Enmity List on the side of the screen. All mob icons should glow red. We remind you that you can change the location of the sheet to any convenient place on the screen, everything in the game moves, rearranges, and changes in size.
When you are attacked by a too-large group of mobs and you understand that the healer will not be able to help – it is not a problem. Each tank has Invulnerability for a couple of seconds, which is usually enough to solve the problem.
On more difficult levels, you will need 2 tanks. One will be the main tank, the second will be an additional “off-tank”. The second tank is your partner. You will have to talk to him, decide who is MT and OT, who takes what blows, and live invulnerability first. In FFXIV, there is a tankbuster (TB) mechanic, which is a powerful blow to a tank (any other class will not withstand the blow). There is a tankbuster for two tanks at the same time, but there are also those that are taken in turn under invulnerability or even change tanks in the middle (one takes the first half of the TB, then the second).
Warrior
– uses a large two-handed ax, and his class sets and appearance resemble barbarians;
– starting warrior class: Marauder;
– his Beast Gauge shows the rage level of the warrior and unlocks additional skills;
– very self-sufficient, he has a skill that allows him to replenish HP by damaging mobs and not breaking the rotation (the skill has a small cooldown, and gives more freedom to the healer, who can also deal more damage and not be distracted by the tank);
– has its own damage buff that increases crit chance and crit damage;
– jump forward to target appears at level 62;
– invulnerability is used only if there is a target (the warrior binds himself to the mob), lasts 10 seconds, and has a cooldown of 240 seconds.

Paladin
– the most iconic tank in the game with a large shield and a one-handed sword;
– Paladin starting class: Gladiator;
– an unusual tank – it is half a caster and a real defender for his team;
– Oath Gauge unlocks skills that allow you to take damage instead of the selected party member or reduce someone’s damage by 10%;
– has a very powerful healing skill (used on yourself or any selected teammate, but this skill shares the cooldown with the usual rotation and spends a lot of mana, therefore it is not used so often);
– a lot of AOE skills with high damage;
– jump forward to the target is very late, appears only at level 74;
– invulnerability is used untargeted at any time, lasts 10 seconds, and has a cooldown of 420 seconds;
– the owner of the most beautiful (in the opinion of the players) skill in the game: Passage of Arms, which reduces damage to team members.
Dark Knight
– a true reference to Kentaro Miura’s Berserk (DK only has dark armor and wields a huge two-handed sword);
– Darkside Gauge and Blood Gauge give DK extra skills and increase damage;
– can’t tank as well as a paladin or a warrior, because its main gameplay revolves around self-healing, and the cooldown of these skills is high (that’s why DK has a lot of damage: you don’t need to tank a lot of mobs if you kill them fast);
– forward jump to target appears at level 54;
– if during invulnerability HP DK drops to 0, then a player receives a debuff that obliges to replenish HP up to 100% percent, otherwise death (lasts 10 seconds and has a 300-second cooldown);
– in high-end content usually OT.
