Crowdsourcing Mornings: Over The Top: The Northwest Passage Expedition

Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment!  Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and others.  The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal.  Please enjoy today’s featured project!

Next year, Matty Clarke and Adam Riley are attempting a first in Arctic exploration. To transit the Northwest Passage in under three months using nothing but a pair of homemade rowboats. Until very recently, such an undertaking would have been impossible, but due to the warming effects of climate change, the sea ice that normally blocks the passage for most of the year is receding further and further each season. The knock-on effects of this warming cycle are rapidly changing both the landscape and the way people interact with the environment.

The threats to the delicate balance of a fragile ecosystem are numerous, and we want to capture the beauty and grandeur of this vast wilderness landscape before it is changed forever. The money we raise from This Kickstarter will give us the tools and resources we need to create a full-length feature documentary and book of this epic undertaking.

As of December 29th, this project has raised $11,700 of their $20,000 goal. This project has 4 days left to raise the $20,000 or it will not be funded.  For a pledge of $25, you will get to download the documentary.  For a pledge of $50, you will get one e-Book and download the documentary.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/northwestpassage/over-the-top-the-northwest-passage-expedition?
