Crowdsourcing Mornings: Afrosport – The Book

Welcome to the Crowdsourcing Mornings segment!  Every weekday morning, Geek Alabama talks about and features one crowdsourcing project from crowdsourcing sites such as Kickstarter, Indiegogo, and others.  The hope with Crowdsourcing Mornings is to feature and help a project be successful and reach its fundraising goal.  Please enjoy today’s featured project!

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at:  https://geekalabama.com/media-kit-pr/geek-alabama-crowdsourcing-guidelines

Mami Wata is a premium African surf lifestyle brand. Our mission is to be a creative force for good in Africa. We do this through manufacturing in Africa, supporting youth surf therapy organisations and strengthening African surf communities and tourism (aka Afrosurfonomics!)

We tell stories of African surf culture through the designs of our products. We look at things that directly and indirectly inform surf culture.

African sports culture and design directly and indirectly informs the context of African surf culture.

Sport in Africa bisects themes of race, culture, appropriation, religion, politics, globalisation, diversity and colonialism. These themes now converge with the excitement and opportunity of Africa’s growth and urbanization in a globally connected world.

AFROSPORT will study sport on the continent through the lens of design; by way of research, interviews, thought pieces, creative exploration, analysis, graphics and photography. The book will explore the visual culture of African sport. Its rich history and its global influence in the world: present and future.

African design is reshaping the world’s cultural stage, sport shows us how.
