Remember the summer of 2020, the midst of the pandemic, when musicians the world over were in a free-fall, feeling lost and like everyone, in much need of connection, inspiration and community? During that time, three fiddling women, Jessie Burns, Katie Grennan and Ellery Klein,  hailing from (and at that point grounded in) three different states decided it was the perfect time to join their mighty creative forces and form a band!  The Bow Tides was born, an unexpected silver-lining and they haven’t looked back since!

Grammy Nominated bassist Eric Thorin and Guitarist Jeff Lindblade were enlisted to hold down the low end, the ideas started flowing and they haven’t stopped. Drawing from decades of playing traditional Irish fiddle and bonded by their love of composition and rich harmonic arrangements they set to work, answering a deep creative calling and using technology to send musical ideas to each other thousands of miles away. The band’s three fiddlers are all veterans of the stage and studio, with a collective 15 years and 8 Billboard chart topping albums as the fiddlers with the Irish American supergroup Gaelic Storm. What has emerged is a sisterhood of fiddlers who create delightful, up-lifting and heartstring strumming music with a feel and sound unlike anything else out there.

In fall 2020 they were commissioned by two nationally acclaimed Irish Festivals to produce online concerts, beamed to audiences world-wide, which they did, despite having never played together in person at this point!

Fast forward to Summer 2021…. FINALLY, they all gathered in person (yes really!!!) for their inaugural live performance at The Pittsburgh Irish Festival, debuting their unique collaboration of stunning original compositions rich harmonies and driving traditional tunes, song and Irish dance arranged for three fiddles, guitar and double bass.

Summer 2022 sees them performing at festivals nation wide and they are thrilled to be working on their first album which is packed full of gorgeous original compositions as well as uniquely arranged traditional tunes. The album has been fully recorded and is in the final stages of mastering & artwork is being completed. This music is ready to make its way out into the world and The Bow Tides couldn’t be more excited to share it with you!
