Welcome to the Music Thursdays segment! Each week here on Geek Alabama, Music Thursdays will feature music related content. Music Thursdays will feature an artist or band and their latest song and / or music video. People love music, and we here at Geek Alabama love featuring artists and bands!

Fresh from the success of her NAPPA Award-winning debut album, Zoology, John Lennon Songwriting Contest finalist Jacq Becker (“Mama B,” of Mama B & Uncle T) is set to release “My Octopus and Me,” a playful new summertime single for kids and families, on August 5, 2022.

A sweet anthem envisioning life with a pet octopus, enhanced by Jacq Becker’s lovely vocals and set to a Caribbean beat, “My Octopus and Me” is the second single from the upcoming solo Mama B EP, Mama B – Under the Sea.

“My three-year-old son’s favorite stuffed animal and constant companion is an octopus that came home with us after an unforgettable aquarium adventure,” says Jacq Becker. “When we went into the studio together to record, he requested a song about a ‘pet octopus.’ The unforgettable melody instantly danced to life, and we had so much fun imagining all the things you could do with an octopus of your very own. If you listen closely, you can even hear my son spontaneously singing along on the chorus!”

Joining singer/songwriter Jacq Becker as co-writer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist is Anders Mouridsen, who has played on many Grammy-nominated songs and has worked with notables like Cam, Taylor Swift, and Meghan Trainor.

In addition to being honored by the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the prestigious NAPPA Awards, Zoology has accrued nearly 15 million all-time DSP streams and over 14 million YouTube streams in the seven months since its release.

“My Octopus and Me” will be available starting August 5 on all streaming services.  The EP Mama B – Under the Sea will be released on August 19.
