After a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2020 that helped us to launch our debut book, Rae’s First Day, we are back for book #2! In this next story, we will meet our second Capable, Lex, and follow her as, during a class field trip, she uses her superpower to help her classmates solve a BIG problem.

Your support will ensure that we are able to illustrate and print another inclusive children’s book. This time, featuring a non-visible disability: dyslexia.

The mission of The Capables is to:

Empower those living with disabilities or differences and
Educate people where disability hasn’t intersected their lives.
We do this through entertaining stories that engage the reader.

We are committed to writing and illustrating books that authentically represent the stories of those who see themselves in our heroes. Our advisory board ensures that our language, stories, and imagery reflect lived experience, challenge norms, and normalize disabilities and differences.

We are thrilled at the opportunity to bring another Capables’ story to life. And just like The Capables are the heroes in our children’s books, in our story, you are the heroes who help bring these books to life. We are a family run business, and we hand-pack every book with care before it is shipped out to you. As of March 15th, this project has raised $18,500 of their $20,000 goal. This project has 2 days left to raise the $20,000 or it will not be funded.
