Crowdsourcing Mornings: Kaleidxcape

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at:

Kaleidxcape offers the delightful experience of creating a spectacular, shareable, unpredictable art piece that can rest on any desktop, book shelf or coffee table for respite and joy, a break from a screen, and a fresh new inspirational angle on the world. It is a gift that shares a timeless treasure. In the time it takes to soak in a bath, order and get delivery, or watch a Netflix show, you can create an art piece. Tune in anytime you want. Plan a great escape with Kaleidxcape.

Our sensational Kaleidxcape team is led by Thea Marshall, acclaimed kaleidoscope designer and pioneer in making this unique art form accessible to all. Joining Thea is Portland, Oregon-based visual artist Seann McKeel, renowned body piercer and jewelry designer, Jori Zan, and the outlandishly talented Phebe Rue McKeel expertly running operations with a constant kaleidoscopic eye for glass diversity and curation.

Thea Marshall has been designing kaleidoscopes for over 40 years. This is her third commercially available kaleidoscope kit. We are thrilled to offer her latest design!

Kaleidoscopes have been appreciated for centuries, and they still are! They have served as inspiration in fashion design, rug making, stained glass, jewelry, architectural patterns, wallpaper, tapestries and paintings. They’re also an object of active self care for people of many ages.

Kaleidoscopes are dynamic, interactive 3-D art forms. Through the empowering experience of creating one, you will better understand their ‘magic,’ and will have produced a spectacular, sharable, ever-changing art piece. A gift for the ages, for all ages!

Reduce Stress. Step away from the screen, find intermission and joy in generating always new, always beautiful patterns. The beauty of this kaleidoscope is that it can be filled and re-filled to endlessly explore light, color, pattern and wonder. Focus your energy in the creating, and refocus time and again on the wondrous designs you fabricate.

Though we are introducing the first edition, Thea has been designing, curating, and teaching kaleidoscopes for over 40 years. This is the perfect time for us to re-introduce a portal to light, change, diversity, and mindfulness.

We provide you all the elements and direction to create a gorgeous, timeless kaleidoscope. Our carefully-researched design makes it easy and fun to meld the scope body and first surface mirrors (critical in kaleidoscopic optics) into a flawless instrument for creating beauty. We include a carefully-curated, lavish array of color-saturated glass pieces, hand-torched rods, semi-precious stones, and curvilinear objects. All will be endlessly reflected into dazzling, infinite, ever-changing symmetrical arrays. The design allows you to easily change these pieces, to add your own items, to experiment, and to bring a smile to the face of anyone peering through the scope that you created.

As of October 8th, this project has raised $17,800 of their $8,000 goal. This project has 13 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $5, you will get digital screensavers.  For a pledge of $80, you will get one Kaleidoscope Kit.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:
