Crowdsourcing Mornings: FunniesTV: A Family-Friendly Improv Video Series

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at:

Funnies for Families is a Canadian non-profit dedicated to bringing laughter to families going through their toughest times. We travel to children’s hospitals, family care centers, women’s shelters, and youth support groups to perform live, unscripted comedy shows for the kids and families there.

Over the past 6 years, we have grown from putting on a show just once a month to more than three per week! Our 100+ hilarious, highly-qualified volunteer comedians travel to over 20 different venues to deliver countless smiles, giggles, chuckles, guffaws and even the odd howl.

Despite our growth, we are always looking for ways to bring laughter to even more families. That’s why we came up with this plan to bring our comedy shows to as many families as we can: Launch a free video series and channel!

Our FunniesTV YouTube channel will feature unscripted videos based on the same type of improv we perform at every Funnies for Families show.

Each video will typically be 3 to 5 minutes long and feature one unscripted short-form improv game performed by our incredible ensemble cast of human and puppet improvisers.

What are short-form improv games? Short-form is a style of improv where comedians create characters, scenes, songs and dialogue on the spot, based on a structure laid out to the comedians and the audience. These games can be seen on TV shows like “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” and “Improv-a-Ganza”.

As of March 16th, this project has raised $11,000 of their $10,109 goal. This project has 2 days left to raise as much as it can. For a pledge of $1, you will get project updates.  For a pledge of $18, you will get episode downloads.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:
