TV Reviews: Orphan Black / Rewrapped

In this TV Reviews post, I am featuring a drama and a cooking show, it’s like reviewing some of the colors of a rainbow, let’s go!

Orphan Black

Orphan Black season two is currently airing on BBC America. Our cable company, Cable One recently picked up BBC America, and I watched most of season one to catch up, and I am enjoying season two of this show. This show is starting to generate its own fandom base, and it was time I reviewed this show. Orphan Black is a show that is not made in England, it’s shot in Ontario Canada. And the show is a dual project between BBC America and the Canadian network Space. The series stars Tatiana Maslany and focuses on Sarah Manning, a woman who assumes the identity of her clone, Elizabeth (Beth) Childs, after witnessing Beth’s suicide. The series raise plenty of issues about the moral and ethical implications of human cloning, and there are people in the show who tries and kills off the clones, but this show is very good!

The reason why Orphan Black is getting more fans is because of its science fiction genre. The show also has some drama and plenty of thrilling action. I enjoy the great acting from the characters on the show like Tatiana Maslany, Jordan Gavaris, Dylan Bruce, and others. I also enjoy the breaks you see in the show in between the action scenes involving weapons and sometimes nudity. At times, the show can get a little graphic with the weapon scenes, but this is also an adult show. The show carries a science and geeky/nerdy theme that anyone would enjoy! And if you have not see Orphan Black yet, you need to watch an episode or two, and you might find yourself going back to watch the past episodes to catch up! Rewrapped

Food Network continues their new shows debut with the new show Rewrapped. The show is hosted by Joey Fatone and it features three chefs competing in two rounds in this retro/cool vibe of set. In round one, the three chefs have to recreate the snack food item being featured in that episode. Some of the processed foods already featured have included Goldfish, Hostess Cupcakes, Spaghetti O’s, Tastykake, and more. The chefs have 30 minutes to try and recreate the processed food item, and it’s hard to try to recreate the food item being featured on the episode. After judging, the second round is called innovate. And chefs are given the actual food item being featured in the episode, and are given 30 minutes to take the food item to the next level in a unique dish.

The judging in each episode is always headed by Marc Summers, that guy from Double Dare. And two other judges are featured in each episode to judge the copy-cat food item and the innovated dish in each episode. Judging is done on a scale of one through ten, and after scoring the two rounds, one chef is the winner, and the winner gets a year supply of the food item being featured in that episode. Is that it, I hope the chefs gets some money as well for travel expenses and such. So, what did I think of the show? I thought the show was fun and an attempted comeback of the classic Food Network show Unwrapped, you do see some scenes of the food item being made in the factory in each episode, but Rewrapped is another attempt by Food Network to do anything possible to get better ratings, how about some actual cooking shows instead?
