Last week Coldplay unveiled their first animated video ever titled “Hurts Like Heaven.” This song is their fifth and final single to be taken from the band’s latest album “Mylo Xyloto.” This video is directed by Mark Osborne whose past works include Kung Fu Panda, MORE, and the upcoming The Little Prince. The music video charts a graffiti gang’s colorful but doomed rebellion against Major Minus and his oppressive regime. The music video is the prequel to the story of Mylo Xyloto which will be told via the six-part Mylo Xyloto comic series to be released monthly by Matt Groening‘s celebrated Bongo Comics on February 2013.
The six-part comic series “Mylo Xyloto” revolves around the story of Mylo Xyloto, who is a Silencer in a war against sound and color. That story provided the backdrop to Coldplay’s “Mylo Xyloto” album and tour. You can pre-order the comic series on the Coldplay website at: http://coldplay.fanfire.com.
The “Mylo Xyloto” album was released on October 25, 2011 via Capitol Records / Parlophone and it debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. And the music video was awesome! The animation was top-notch and I really liked the variety of rainbow colors you see throughout this video. It looks like this will be a battle between big scary robots and the folks who wants to bring color and light into a dark and scary world. Enjoy watching the new Coldplay video below!
