Snake.io Heads To Steam, Now Open For Wishlists

PC gamers will soon have a reason to watch where they’re slithering with the upcoming release of Snake.io on Steam. The popular arcade snake game, previously available only on mobile devices and consoles, is making its way to PC with a dedicated Steam version.

Its Steam page is now live, and players can already add the game to their wishlists. By wishlisting the game, fans can make sure that they are notified when Snake.io officially launches.

A Modern Snake Game Experience

Snake.io takes the nostalgic feel of the 1990s-era Snake games that many people grew up with and adds a colorful, competitive twist. Players control their own snake to gobble up pellets scattered around the arena or dropped by eliminated opponents. A snake is knocked out when it crashes into another snake’s body or the arena walls. Players may use the boost ability to escape tight situations or bait opponents into traps, but boosting shrinks the snake.

The more pellets a snake consumes, the longer it grows. The goal is to survive for as long as possible, rack up a high score, and work your way toward the top of the leaderboard.

With numerous snakes weaving around the arena at once, the constant threat of elimination keeps players on their toes despite the straightforward controls. The boost mechanic also opens the door for plenty of sneaky strategies to eliminate other snakes. Combined with the game’s clean and colorful design, quick restarts, and regular content updates, Snake.io offers the kind of pick-up-and-play experience that can easily turn one match into several more.

What the Steam Version Brings For PC Players

The Steam release takes the core gameplay loop of Snake.io and adapts it for PC. According to the game’s Steam page, the PC version will feature more than 200 cosmetic items, including skins, hats, wings, and other customization options.

Players can show off their favorite looks in regular matches or team up with friends through Party Mode, which supports groups of up to four players. For even larger friend groups, PC players will also be able to create Snake Clubs and invite other players to join.

Snake.io will also feature crossplay between Steam and mobile versions, allowing PC players to compete with the game’s existing mobile audience. In other words, your mobile-playing friends won’t have an excuse to squirm away from being gobbled up by your increasingly enormous digital snake.

A Big New Arena for Snake.io

As of 2026, Snake.io has garnered over 430 million downloads across multiple platforms, making it the most downloaded title by game studio Kooapps. With Steam’s 147 million monthly active users, the expansion could bring a large and enthusiastic gaming audience into the Snake.io fanbase.

Players interested in the PC version can wishlist Snake.io now through its Steam store page. Wishlisting the game will provide notifications about future updates and, most importantly, let players know when it is finally time to start slithering on PC.

Until then, there is always time to practice those boosts— and maybe work on avoiding those arena walls.
