A massive winter storm stretched nearly 2,000 miles across the United States — from snow-covered streets in Boston to crippling ice storms in Mississippi and Nashville — shutting down travel, grounding flights, and knocking out power for hundreds of thousands.
In Boston, a city that prides itself on knowing snow, a four-year snow drought quietly rewired expectations. When winter returned all at once, confidence gave way to chaos on the roads.
Down south, the same storm didn’t slow life down — it weighed it down, as ice snapped trees, pulled down power lines, and left entire neighborhoods in the dark.
