You know, I would just love to have one relaxing weekend without major breaking news happening. Because it seems like in the past month there have been multiple major breaking news stories happening during the weekend. And last weekend was no exception.
On Sunday afternoon, after the Sunday morning political talk shows were all wrapped up. Joe Biden announced on social media that he would no longer run for a second term as President of the United States.
This announcement sent major shock waves across social media and the cable news channels. The Cable News Channel’s had to scramble to bring in their big-time anchors.
Joe Biden has had a great term as president. But I had a gut feeling that he was going to announce something big.
Just about every poll has been showing that Biden would lose big to Trump in November. The polls got so bad that traditional blue states like Virginia and New Mexico were showing that Trump could win in those States.
And Biden’s horrible poll numbers were affecting US House and Senate races all around the country. Combined with Biden’s horribly low approval numbers, the writing was on the wall.
I think Joe Biden did the right thing. And he really had no choice but to do this. I know he really did not want to step down from running for president. But he also knows that democracy in America is on the line. And if Trump would win, the United States would implode.
So now, Kamala Harris Is the prospective nominee for president on the Democrat side. There’s a whole convention coming up next month. But unless something really weird happens, Kamala Harris will be the Democratic nominee for president.
And she has got work to do to earn the votes from a lot of people. People from my mom, to others I have talked to, have all said that Kamala Harris cannot win.
She will have to prove to people like my mother that she can do the job as president. She needs to talk about what she has done while as Vice President. Because as of right now I can’t think of much she has done.
She will also need to prove that a woman can perform the job as well as a man can. Because we saw what happened back in 2016 when Hillary Clinton was running for president.
The right wing media ecosystem tore Hillary Clinton apart. The right wing media ecosystem convinced many people across the country that a woman should not be president.
And you know the right wingers are sharpening their knives to repeat the same playbook they did back in 2016, this time with Kamala Harris.
Yes, a woman can be President of the United States. And I think Kamala Harris can be a wonderful president.
But she is going to have her work cut out for her. There’s only over 100 days left until the election. And with many places around the country voting early. Kamala Harris has got to go on a messaging overdrive immediately.
