Crowdsourcing Mornings: Save The Bees, Please!

This is Crowdsourcing Mornings! This post takes place every weekday morning and highlights one crowdsourcing project I liked from Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or other crowdsourcing websites.

Please read our crowdsourcing guidelines at:

SAVE THE BEES, PLEASE! is a little project put together by Kettle Ridge Farm, a small, family-owned & operated honey & maple syrup farm located just outside of Rochester, NY in the town of Victor. From our land, we harvest around 2,000 lbs of honey each summer & tap around 2,000 maple trees each winter.

Honey bees & other pollinating insects are threatened like never before. Pesticides, viruses, mites, & habitat loss have caused the number of insects around the world to drop drastically over the last 10 years. Why should this be of concern? Well, one reason is because honey bees are responsible for 40% of the nation’s food supply! Without honey bees, you can say goodbye to apples, almonds, blueberries, cherries, onions, avocados (that’s right, no more guacamole)…the list goes on & on.

Kettle Ridge Farm invites you to join our ‘Save The Bees, Please!’ campaign. This effort is part CSA (Community-Supported Agriculture) & part environmental activism. We seek to raise awareness of the plight of bees, increase populations of native, pollinator friendly plants, & introduce you to some amazing products that we make here at Kettle Ridge Farm.

With the funds collected, we hope to cover our reward expenses (regional, native flower seed is very expensive), bolster our own apiary which tends to experience significant loss over the course of the winter, & use whatever is left to help offset the cost of a new handicap accessible honeyhouse/sugarhouse with a restroom and a production kitchen for honey and maple confections.

As of September 3rd, this project has raised $6,600 of their $5,000 goal. This project has 16 days left to raise as much as it can.  For a pledge of $5, you will get a sticker.  For a pledge of $30, you will get a t-shirt and sticker.  To learn more and to pledge money, go to:
