Watch The Inspiring Bars And Melody Anti-Bullying Rap Video

If you have not been living under a rock, then you know that there is a bullying epidemic problem around the world.  If you were bullied when you were younger, or know of someone who was bullied, or just like feel good stories, then this video is for you!  The ITV show Britain’s Got Talent out of the United Kingdom recently had two teenage boys, 15-year-old Charlie Lenehan and 13-year-old Leondre Devries with the name Bars and Melody come on to perform a song.  The two kids took Faith Evans and Twista’s “Hope,” and turned the song into their own with their own lyrics.  The rap verses reflect their feelings about bullying as one of the boys has gone through school being bullied, and music has made these two kids stronger.

Yes, these two kids did awesome on the stage, the audience cheered them on, and Simon pushed the gold button to send these two kids straight to the live shows, but something else is happening, which is great!  After watching the video above, people are becoming inspired and the duo are changing the perspectives of so many people.  Their audition is starting to help so many people and even better, some people have stopped bullying!  Check out some of these tweets!

In my opinion, this video should be required viewing to all kids!  All schools should show this video to their students.  And I hope Bars and Melody gets a great record deal, and this song is professionally recorded so more kids can hear this inspiring message!  If one song can help stop the bullying epidemic, then make it happen!  Good luck to Bars and Melody on Britain’s Got Talent, I hope they win it!

Music Thursdays: Jimmy Fallon & Sesame Street / Best X-Factor Auditions

Geek Alabama Music Thursdays

This week, I wanted to share some great music videos from some TV shows currently on the air.  First off, I must share this video from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.  Jimmy Fallon and band The Roots got together with characters from the PBS show Sesame Street.  The song is the theme for Sesame Street all played with classroom instruments.  I think this is one of Jimmy Fallon’s best classroom instruments songs so far!

And now, I wanted to share some of my favorite auditions from The X-Factor 2013.  These artists and singers did great.  This first one is from Rion Paige, who has a disability that limits the use of her hands.  She sang “Blown Away” with class!

This next video is from Carlos Guevara who has Tourette Syndrome.  He sang “Gravity” and his singing does not stop him!

And this last video is from Alex & Sierra who are a couple, their version of “Toxic” was great!

Great Inspirational Videos

There have been some great inspirational videos to show up in the last few days.  These videos should put a smile on anyone’s face!

Britain’s Got Talent

The opera performance by Charlotte and Jonathan blew away the entire audience.  And it has now gone viral all over the world.  Let’s face it.  No one thought these two had any talent in them and the judges were ready to push those buttons.  But first looks should not be judged by anyone.  I do hope these two get very far in the competition.  They are already winners and have great careers ahead.

Fiona the Dog

This video shows rescue workers finding a dog abandoned by someone in southern California.  The people discovered the dog was blind and had a flea infestation.  But the story gets much better.  The dog was taken to the vet and had surgery to have the dog see again in one eye.  The results show one very happy dog!  I do hope whoever abandoned the dog is found and put in jail!

Whitney Houston Dead

I was not going to write another post for Young’s Blog until Sunday Morning but this story deserves a post.  Whitney Houston died on Saturday Afternoon and was only 48.  Just way too young!  She was reportedly going to be the next judge on the X-Factor with Simon Cowell.  And she was going to be appearing on The Grammy’s on Sunday night.  The police has now come out and said there was no foul play in Houston’s death.  Most likely she died as a result of using drugs.  And this will go down as another big name death as of result of using drugs.  No question Whitney Houston was very special.  She had many big music hits during her career.  And she started the name “diva” which is used a lot today.  Many people have said Mrs. Houston is one of the greatest singers of all time.  And many people choose a Whitney Houston song to perform because her music was so special.

I think this needs to be said.  We have now lost several famous signers in the last couple of years due to the results of drugs or alcohol.  Michael Jackson; Amy Winehouse; and now Whitney Houston presumably have now died because they were addicts.  To any of the signers out there.  What are the pressures in the music business?  It just looks like the pressure to be a big name and to stay relevant is huge!  Shows like American Idol and the gossip shows showing celebrities being arrested for drugs and alcohol show the bad light of being a celebrity.  There has got to be a way to stop the huge pressure in Hollywood and that would spur having the famous celebrities and signers from turning to drugs and alcohol.  This death is just such a waste.  And the music from Whitney Houston will be remembered for a very long time.  And the song I Will Always Love You written by Dolly Parton and performed by Whitney Houston is a fitting tribute to Whitney Houston.  R.I.P. Whitney Houston.
