Pancake Day was started in 1985 and is their primary fundraiser. It supports Back to School Clothes Shopping for 100-125 students each August and all other projects funded by the Kiwanis Club of Anniston. This event has experienced tremendous growth in recent years. In 2014, over $50,000 was raised at this event. Tickets are $5 in advance or $6 at the door. And the meal will include three pancakes, two pieces of sausage, and either coffee, orange juice, or a Buffalo Rock Pepsi drink. Regular and sugar-free syrup will be available. And of course, butter will be available for the pancakes. For the ones who can’t eat at the City Meeting Center, you can take out your breakfast as well!

Members recommend you arrive before 8 am if you want to beat the crowds.  The worst time for the crowds will be between 8-10 am.  There will be around 100 people from various Kiwanis clubs including the Kiwanis Club, Key Club, Builders Club, Circle K, and Aktion Club, helping out with the tasks including making the pancake batter, serving the food, cleaning the tables, cooking the pancakes and sausage, and more!

In the kitchen which is in the back and outdoors in a tent, every oven will be used to cook sausage and there will be many grills going to cook pancakes.  During the breakfast rush, you might have to wait for a few minutes for the crew to catch up, but you will get fresh and hot off the grill pancakes.  While the adults are cooking the pancakes and sausage, the kids will be cleaning the tables, serving the food, making the batter, and more, this is a true team effort!
