With this summer’s World Cup now behind us, new data from JustWatch reveals what sports movies are watched the most – interesting for everyone still craving sports.
According to our latest Streaming Charts, the top of the US ranking is led by comedies about unconventional sports: pickleball (The Dink), arm wrestling (Golden Arm) and table tennis (Marty Supreme), ahead of genre classics such as Rocky, Moneyball and Field of Dreams.
Leading the ranking is The Dink, Apple TV’s new pickleball comedy starring Jake Johnson, at #1, followed by arm-wrestling comedy Golden Arm in second.
Other highlights from the data include:
- Baseball is still America’s on-screen pastime, with four films (The Sandlot, Moneyball, Field of Dreams and A League of Their Own) in the Top 10.
- Motorsport features prominently, with F1 (starring Brad Pitt) and Ford v Ferrari both charting.
- Even in the immediate wake of the World Cup, no soccer film cracks the Top 10, US audiences are turning to homegrown and novelty-sport titles instead.
