Hurricane Michael is a major hurricane and is about to be one of the strongest hurricanes to make landfall along the Florida Panhandle. One thing that makes a evacuation harder is the lack of freeways connecting Panama City or Destin to Interstate 10. So traffic wanting to evacuate must head north along 4-lane highways filled with numerous traffic signals. This backs up traffic and makes it harder to evacuate. I hope the DOT in Florida will start thinking about new highways after this storm is long gone.
Anyways, Live Storms Media recorded major traffic backups with a drone in Panama City. Godspeed to people who stayed behind.
